Over-the-air updates · ESP32

Ship firmware.
Skip the cable.

Otamatic keeps your ESP32 fleet on its latest firmware with over-the-air updates dispatched from one central platform — powered by a plug & play client library.

  • central dispatch
  • signed releases
  • staged rollout

Features

Everything an OTA release needs

From upload to reboot, managed in one place.

Fleet-wide dispatch

Push a new release to one board or the whole fleet across multiple release channels. Devices pick it up on their next check-in — no localhost, no USB cables.

Versioned releases

Upload firmware binaries to your codebases, keep every version you ship, and roll back to the last known-good build in a click.

Device registry

See each board's current firmware and last check-in at a glance.

Unlimited API keys

Issue as many scoped API keys as you need, so only your devices can talk to your fleet — and revoke them anytime.

Signed & verified

Every board checks the release signature before install and the image integrity before reboot — no tampered firmware, no bricks.

Release control

Schedule updates, roll them out in stages, and let the platform abort automatically if boards stop reporting back healthy.

How it works

From upload to reboot

The Otamatic client library runs on your ESP32 and does the rest — your only job is to upload the releases.

Upload a release

Add a firmware binary to the platform and tag it as a new version.

Register your boards

Flash the Otamatic client library once. From then on, every update arrives over the air.

Devices poll

Each ESP32 checks the API periodically and learns when a newer release is waiting for it on its channel.

Verify and reboot

The board downloads, verifies the signature and integrity of the image, applies it and reports back — running the new firmware in seconds.

Ready when you are

Cut the USB cable.

Create your organization, upload a release, and let your boards come to you.
